How the calculator works
The value equals weight in grams × purity × spot price per gram × exchange rate. For example, 10 g of 22K gold at a 24K price of 130 USD/g is worth 10 × 0.916 × 130 = 1,190.80 USD.
The bid is the estimated price a dealer pays you (spot minus the spread); the ask is what you would pay a dealer (spot plus spread and, for jewelry, the making charge). Typical jeweler spreads are 3–5%; online bullion dealers are often 1–3%.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate the value of my gold?
Weigh it in grams, find the karat stamp (for example 750 or 18K), and multiply weight × purity × today’s price per gram of pure gold. This calculator does it for you in any currency.
Is a troy ounce the same as an ounce?
No. A troy ounce is 31.1035 g while a standard ounce is 28.35 g. Precious metals are always quoted in troy ounces.
